The arbor is at the center of Crow Fair. Encircling the big grassy field where the powwow takes place, the arbor is filled with Native American handcrafted items, food, blankets, and typical tourist essentials. I especially love the Native peddlers who bring authentic items for sale.

Everything is a circle in Crow culture. Circles represent life.

Every Will Smith Movie Performance, Ranked

The entire Crow Fair is a circle. Every tepee seems to look the same, especially at night. But there are only four or five dirt paths that take you to the outer circle, where you can get your bearings and find your way. When the Grand Entry begins, the drums shake your very soul. The vibration moves from the bottom of your feet to the middle of your chest. Drum groups are strategically placed between sections of the crowd-filled bleachers. Crow Fair welcomes all tribes, and it makes for a magnificent display of tradition, culture, color, and coming together of all people.

The powwow action lasts long after the sun goes down. Indian horse relays are a crowd favorite. Bareback, no less! My favorite part of Crow Fair, though, is wandering around the tepees and camps. Elders sit in the shade of enormous cottonwood trees, closely watching the festivities. People on picnic benches share stories. Smoke rises over the lodge poles where families are gathering for dinner. This year marks the 99th Annual Crow Fair Celebration. Prior to its official inception in , the National Park Service already had strong roots in the West with the original 10 parks dotting the map across Wyoming, Montana, Washington, Oregon, Colorado, South Dakota, and California, which alone now have nine parks.

And even today, more than a century after President Woodrow Wilson signed the Organic Act, the West is still home to the majority of the 59 parks and even more national monuments. Pinnacles National Park in the coastal hills of California has deep gorges and caves fit for any adventure. The ancient volcanic rock creates a jagged landscape and hiking paths through forests and canyons.

Between rock climbing, bird-watching, camping, and hiking, Pinnacles captivates visitors with its breathtaking landscapes and extensive opportunities to experience nature. Learn more about the National Park Service on the official website. Read more about our favorite national parks and the NPS. At nearly a century old, the Nashville AM radio station WSM remains a relevant influencer in the country music world. Or, maybe we just wanted to forget: Smith is part of the epic, lame battle royale that happens near the end of this just-good-enough sequel. Is he trying to make his character sound prissy or nerdy or what?

It was also the last film of Jack Lemmon. He and Robbie are the only people who seem to have put much thought into what went onscreen, and for that, we must express our gratefulness. And then run out of the theater.

This is Michael Bay trying maybe a little too much comedy, to the point that the opening sequence takes place at a Klan rally in which Martin Lawrence gets shot in the butt. One suspects he cringes when he watches this now. Let those stay rumors. Yes, Will Smith was in a Kevin Smith movie. Only briefly, though. Few movie stars have felt so comfortable in their own skin. You see that surprisingly well here. After the initial Aladdin trailer, which revealed Will Smith as the Big Blue Dude, received less-than-stellar responses from the internet, it was reasonable to go into this live-action remake with major worries.

Ditto Smith as the jovial genie. He has obvious rapport with Margot Robbie, which would carry over to a worse movie in Suicide Squad , and, as usual, he effortlessly gets the audience on his side. The concept of this movie is so inherently bizarre — Whoopi Goldberg discovers that the father of the child she conceived from a sperm donor is dumbass car salesman Ted Danson — that you look for any sort of escape.

And you certainly find it in Smith, who plays the love interest of the daughter Nia Long with such movie-star charm that he practically leaps off the screen. Smith and director Michael Bay teamed up when both men were on a career upswing, and Bad Boys was the very appealing and, yes, sorta racist and homophobic result. This is where the Fresh Prince graduates to big-screen badass action hero, setting the stage for Independence Day , Men in Black and the title of King of the Fourth of July Blockbuster.

I am continuing my genre specific comics with this blog dedicated to the Western Genre. Although the Western movies are not generally my favourite past time the comics however are one of my favourites. What I like about the Western comics is that they dedicate to historical facts like the barbaric treatment of the Indians, the Buffalo Soldiers, and the making of the west. Western Genre has a lot of scope and that is why it's a popular genre.

Ten Cowboy Comics That Prove the Western Isn’t Dead

So in homage to Western comics here is my top 10 must reads. Freed slave Django and dentist-turned-bounty-hunter Dr. Schultz blaze their way across the old South, in search of outlaws and Django's missing bride. This comic sets right after the events of the movie and keeps faith to the movie with its narcissus realism. Django Unchained is gruesome that has the elements of black humour that riddles with contempt irony.

If you loved the movie then this is a comic for you.

In a dreamlike version of the Old West, Tom Ketchum struggles to clear his name-and stay alive-when he's mistaken for wanton outlaw 'Black Jack' Ketchum. With the aid of his talking sidearm, a secretive gambler, and a mute girl with a Winchester, Tom evades the mysterious Union and its supernatural enforcers, the faceless Dusters, as he's forced to question his identity, his sanity, and his very existence.

Black Jack and Ketchum is a fascinating read due to its content. The comic has elements of Unforgiven with the added spice or corruption, sex and faceless gun slingers! Image Comics have a great comic that you must read. Roland wins his guns, but the price is high. Over the course of the story, Roland transforms from the dinh of a faithful ka-tet to a war-hardened loner, searching for the Dark Tower and for his ultimate enemies—a many-faced sorcerer and his master, an immortal were-spider who wants nothing less than to destroy the Tower and swallow the wreckage of the multiverse.

The Dark Tower is a sublime story that is so well received its being made to motion picture. As an outsider and an honest man, Red is going to need all his wits, and both his fists, to serve and protect. The tale of how Red Wolf wins the West starts in , and will take him farther than he could ever imagine! Red Wolf tells his story in a time when Indians were treated appallingly and Red Wolf's strength and character.

Set in the frontier where settlers and Indians are fighting over the territory but they must align themselves due to the alien invaders who seek to eradicate all life in the west. After thirteen years in prison, a Chinese gunslinger named Kingsway Law just wants to find his wife. And in this case, trouble is a woman with a magic sword who needs his help.

Kingsway West is certainly magical that has everything you would want in East meets West genre. Greg Pak Totally Awesome Hulk has certainly delivered with this amazing comic that resonates eastern culture with ease. Scalp-hunter, raider, killer-for- hire: Kit Hawken has been a bad man for most of his long life.
